Philanthropic Programs

Assisteens participate in:

Seasons for Seniors

Assisteens host seasonal events for residents of a local retirement home. Some of these events include thank you letters and participation in Veterans' Day ceremony, holiday caroling and making ornaments, arts and crafts and other interactive activities.

Assisteens bring joy to the lives of the elderly and homebound clients of Assistance League of Diablo Valley's TeleCare philanthropy by sending cards throughout the year.

Snack Packs for Receiving Centers

Assisteens assemble 375 snack packs for the chapter's Receiving Center Backpacks philanthropic program. Receiving Centers provide a safe, comfortable environment for children in crisis until they can be placed with a foster family. The snack packs and backpacks are intended to provide some comfort in knowing that someone cares.

Children's Holiday Parties

Assisteens host parties for children who are in need and at risk in Contra Costa County, CA. In December, guests are invited to enjoy games, cookie decorating, face painting, coloring, and a pizza party. Santa Claus arrives and presents gifts selected from each child's wish list. At the spring holiday party, the Big Bunny hosts an egg hunt. The parties and gifts are made possible by Assisteens' fundraising activities.

Asssisteens support the chapter's R.E.A.D. program by inserting labels in books that are read and donated monthly to second grade classrooms and school libraries.

The Assisteens adopted a new philanthropic program entitled Foster Youth Support in 2017. This year they donated $2000 to the chapter's Foster Youth Scholarships program. Funds were raised from the Annual Fashion Show and Tea.
